Sony has just dropped the second official trailer for the Uncharted movie adaptation of the popular video game series, which is set to be released in theaters early 2022.

The two-minute long trailer gives fans a better idea of how the film will adapt Naughty Dog’s hit PlayStation video game, as well as a longer look at Tom Holland as treasure hunter Nathan Drake and Mark Wahlberg as his mentor Victor "Sully" Sullivan.

Joining the cast are Sophia Ali as Chloe Frazer, Tati Gabrielle as a new character Braddock, and Antonio Banderas as villain Moncada.

Here’s the official description of the movie from Sony:

"Street-smart thief Nathan Drake (Tom Holland) is recruited by seasoned treasure hunter Victor "Sully" Sullivan (Mark Wahlberg) to recover a fortune lost by Ferdinand Magellan 500 years ago. What starts as a heist job for the duo becomes a globe-trotting, white-knuckle race to reach the prize before the ruthless Moncada (Antonio Banderas), who believes he and his family are the rightful heirs. If Nate and Sully can decipher the clues and solve one of the world's oldest mysteries, they stand to find $5 billion in treasure and perhaps even Nate's long-lost brother... but only if they can learn to work together."

The latest trailer builds up the backstory between Drake and Sully’s relationship in the younger days of their treasure hunting adventures. It also  highlights some key action sequences inspired by scenes from the video games including the thrilling crate-hopping plane sequence from Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, teased in the first trailer.

The latest trailer also gives fans a first glimpse of Moncada, the villain of the film portrayed by Antonio Banderas. The trailer is chock full of  recognizable nods to the video game franchise, including puzzle solving, hanging on chandeliers, and fantastical gravity-defying sequences. Mark Wahlberg’s Sully is teased with his character’s iconic mustache in the final seconds of the trailer, which is how he appears in the video games.

Uncharted is shaping up to be another big blockbuster hit to look forward to, with Holland's star power sure to draw non-gaming audiences. Holland’s current film, Spider-Man: No Way Home, is crushing box office figures internationally, so fans are sure to flock to his newest role in the action world when Uncharted hits theaters.

In the Philippines, Uncharted is being distributed by Columbia Pictures, local office of Sony Pictures Releasing International. Uncharted is set to hit Philippine theaters on Feb. 23, 2022, five days after its US debut.

For those who have not yet played the video game series, Sony is also releasing Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection—which contains both Uncharted 4 and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy—on PlayStation 5 consoles and PC in early 2022.
