October marks Museums and Galleries Month (MGM) in the Philippines—but with museums in Metro Manila still closed under Alert Level 4, we can't celebrate by visiting our favorite exhibits.

But while physical doors are shut, several of our favorite museums have taken their archives and activities online to keep the celebration rolling.

National Museum of the Philippines

In addition to MGM, the National Museum is also turning 120 years old on Oct. 29. This month, the museum offers weekly programs where they feature different topics from unique deep-sea fishes in the country to the history of Baybayin writing and more.

The National Museum has an upgraded website where you can take 360 virtual tours of its different galleries.

But, if you want to see it in flesh, the museum is now open Tuesdays to Sundays from 9AM to 12PM and 1PM to 4PM.

Pintô Art Museum

Pintô Art Museum's exhibits are now open to the public. You can drop by the Pintô Art Museum, Pintô Gardens, and Pintô Arboretum from Tuesday to Sunday, 10 AM to 5 PM. Cafe Rizal is also open to visitors at limited seating capacity.

According to its Facebook page, the Rizal museum has upcoming exhibits featuring the works of Alex Aguilar and Chino Yulo from Oct. 17 to Nov. 14.

Ayala Museum

This Makati-based museum is holding virtual exhibitions where you can experience the wonder of art and culture at ayalamuseum.org/exhibitions and ayalamuseum.org/youtube.

Ayala Museum is also commemorating National Indigenous Peoples Month this month, where it will showcase objects from various ethnolinguistic groups in the country.

Metropolitan Museum of Manila

The Metropolitan Museum of Manila has activities for kids this MGM, including an interactive tour where they'll be able to virtually visit the museum to see the Philippine artworks.

The interactive tour, which will also have games, will have two Zoom sessions: an AM session for kids 5 to 8 years old and a PM session for children 9 to 12 years old.

ManilART 2021

The flagship activity of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts' (NCCA) MGM, ManilART will happen online and on-site for art enthusiasts. Its onsite exhibit will be held at the SMX Convention Center at SM Aura Premier from Oct. 13 to 17.

Presidential Car Museum

Do you have a love for history and cars? The Presidential Car Museum will highlight the grand old days of Manila's street scenes in the 1920s. It will also showcase art deco buildings influenced by American, Asia, and European cultures.
