Enchanted Kingdom reopens on Feb. 25 after closing due to COVID-19 surge
Enchanted Kingdom in Sta. Rosa in Laguna will resume operations on Feb. 25, after voluntarily closing its doors since January due to a surge in COVID-19 cases driven by the Omicron variant.
"The country’s first and only world-class theme park, #EnchantedKingdom, welcomes you back this FEBRUARY 25, 2022!" it said on a Facebook post on Feb. 17.
Enchanted Kingdom said it would be open from 11:00am to 7:00pm on opening day, Feb. 25.
But from Feb. 26 to June 27, it would only operate on weekends.
"Weekly RIDE/ATTRACTION SCHEDULES will be posted accordingly and is subject to changes/updates without prior notice," park management noted.
Enchanted Kingdom said guests of all ages, regardless of vaccination status, will be allowed inside the park.
For indoor attractions or dining establishments, however, only fully vaccinated guests will be accepted. Minors, regardless of vaccination status, would have to be accompanied by fully vaccinated adults.
"Certain establishments, rides/attractions and other offerings may be modified, have limited capacity or unavailable," it said.
Last Jan. 5, Enchanted Kingdom said it decided to voluntarily suspend its operations until at least Jan. 16 "for the safety and health of both our guests and staff/cast members" despite Laguna being under Alert Level 2 that time. Under Alert Level 2, even the third, theme parks may operate on a limited capacity.
The theme park extended its temporary closure to Feb. 24.
Laguna has been placed under Alert Level 3 on Jan. 7, and has been extended until Feb. 15. It will be under Alert Level 2 for the rest of February.
The Department of Health (DOH) has detected local cases of the highly transmissible Omicron variant last Jan. 3. In the days that followed, the country saw new record highs in daily infections.
The DOH reported 10,775 new cases on Jan. 5, the first time that its coronavirus numbers surpassed 10,000 after settling in the three-digit mark since Nov. 24 last year.
On Jan. 21, the agency reported a record 291,618 total active cases. Last Jan. 15, new active cases had hit an all time high of 39,004, the same day that it also confirmed that there's already community transmissionof the Omicron variant.
New daily cases have started to decline to the thousands this month. The DOH on Feb. 1 recorded 9,493 new infections.
On Feb. 17, the country logged 2,196 new cases, the fourth straight day that new cases are at the 2,000 mark.
Star City in Pasay, meanwhile, reopens on Feb. 24.
