Blake Lively, Justin Baldoni to star in Colleen Hoover's 'It Ends with Us' film adaptation

American actors Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni will star in the movie adaptation of the bestselling 2016 romance novel It Ends with Us by American author Colleen Hoover.

Variety reported that Justin will direct and executive produce the film, while Blake will serve as co-executive producer.

Writing the screenplay is Christy Hall, who co-wrote and executive produced Netflix comedy series I Am Not Okay With This.

Colleen, meanwhile, will act as consultant.

It Ends with Us follows Lily, a girl from Maine who moves to Boston to start her own business. Lily then feels a spark with a neurosurgeon named Ryle, but finds his "complete aversion to relationships" disturbing.

Lily eventually becomes the exception to Ryle's "no dating" rule, but the plot thickens when Lily's first love Atlas suddenly reappears, threatening everything she's built with Ryle.

Though published in 2016, It Ends with Us became a "BookTok" phenomenon on TikTok, in which users post videos reviewing and discussing the books they read.

In 2022, It Ends with Us the top-selling book in the United States with over 20 million copies sold. Hoover also became the year's highest-selling novelist in the country, authoring six of the Top 10 books at the time.

Justin is known for his roles in the television series Jane the Virgin and The Suite Life of Zack and Cody. He also directed romantic drama Five Feet Apart.

Blake is known for her work in the 2007 CW television series Gossip Girl and movies A Simple Favor and The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants. She made her directorial debut in the music video of Taylor Swift's I Bet You Think About Me
