The second season of the Netflix original series Locke & Key is on its way, with the first teaser trailer promising new magic and an even darker story for the Keepers of the Keys.

Netflix announced on Tuesday, Sept. 14, that the series based on Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez’s graphic novels will return right in time for the spooky Halloween season on Friday, Oct. 22, 2021.

First-look images of the second season were unveiled during Netflix's Geeked Week in June this year.

Locke & Key follows three siblings who, after the murder of their father, move to their ancestral home only to find the house has magical keys that give them a vast array of powers and abilities.

Following the events of the first season, Dodge (Laysla De Oliveira) returns in the new trailer, still set to harness the power of the keys hidden throughout the Locke estate. Unbeknownst to the Locke family who guard the keys is that Gabe (Griffin Gluck), Kinsey Locke’s (Emilia Jones) boyfriend, is actually Dodge in disguise plotting to use their relationship to his advantage.

In the latest season, the Omega Door and its corresponding key will feature as part of a story in which Kinsey and her brothers Tyler (Connor Jessup) and Bode (Jackson Robert Scott) rally together to keep the door shut, and defeat those trying to free the demons trapped behind it.

The show's 10-episode first season, which dropped in February 2020, was a big hit for the streaming giant. The series has already been renewed for a third season ahead of season 2's airing.
