SB19, 4th Impact open up about musical influences, performing with an orchestra at ‘Forte’ pop orchestra concert
SB19, 4th Impact, and the performers of the “Forte: A Benefit Orchestra Concert” promised an unforgettable show filled with memorable performances—and they delivered.
Compared to their previous stages, P-pop idol groups SB19 and 4th Impact confessed that performing with a live orchestra helped them develop their skills as artists despite not having any formal training.
“Working with an orchestra made us feel like ang dami pa naming kailangang matutunan pagdating sa music. ‘Yung orchestra kasi, kumpleto iyon eh. Merong bass, highs and lows, so I think ‘yung element na ‘yun, marami kaming natutunan d’un and we can incorporate it ‘pag gumagawa kami ng music,” SB19’s Pablo told the media during the concert’s virtual press conference.
4th Impact’s Irene revealed that performing with an orchestra inspired the girl group to develop “our music.” “Malaking tulong ang orchestra, lalo na ang concert na ‘to, in terms of the arrangement, vocals, and to hone our talents more,” 4th Impact’s Almira added.
Along with that, SB19 and 4th Impact can’t help but praise one another. “To be honest, when we found out we’re performing (with 4th Impact), parang ayaw na namin mag-perform. Ganoon sila kagaling and they’re very professional,” Pablo shared.
Soprano singer Nicole Pugeda, one of the concert’s performers, revealed that she’s been into classical, musical theater, and Broadway genres. “I think they really helped me enhance my confidence on stage and the way I project myself.”
Meanwhile, tenor singer Isaac Iglesias shared that he’s a fan of classical and Broadway music since it helped him grow as a musician.
On the other hand, 4th Impact’s Mylene said pop music is considered the girl group’s biggest influence. She also shared that they love listening to Beyoncé, Destiny’s Child, and Mariah Carey’s music.
“From there, it hones us, ‘yung craft, sound, and music namin as an artist. ‘Yun po talaga ang nag-develop sa amin to where we are right now,” she added.

Meanwhile, SB19’s Pablo revealed that the group members have their own musical influences. “Growing up, I listen to metal, rock, hip hop, gospel, at classical. Halos lahat ng mga ‘yun, maririnig mo kapag pumunta ka sa’min,” he shared.
“Since iba-iba po kami ng genres, pero probably ‘yung similarities namin is that pare-parehas kaming nakikinig ng pop. I think it’s one of the biggest na naka-contribute sa improvement namin is pop music din,” Justin added.

Even if SB19 and 4th Impact admitted that performing with an orchestra was a learning curve, the concert showed off their musical abilities really well!
The “Forte: A Benefit Pop Orchestra Concert” on Sunday, Oct. 17, was presented by the St. Scholastica's College Manila's Sr. Baptista Battig Music Foundation, which aims to help unprivileged children through music.
