Demi Lovato comes out as pansexual, says she is ‘so fluid’

Demi Lovato continues to share and open up more about herself, following the release of her YouTube documentary series. In an interview with the podcast The Joe Rogan Experience on Tuesday, March 30, the singer officially came out as pansexual.

In the interview, Joe Rogan asked Demi if she wants to have kids. The Sorry Not Sorry singer called off her engagement with actor Max Ehrich last year.

Demi shared, ““I used to. I think if anything I want to adopt. I was engaged to a man last year. I totally thought I'd be married, maybe pregnant by now. And that's not the case.”

She further said that she does not know if she will “end up” with a guy, echoing her statement earlier this year in an interview with Glamour magazine that she feels “too queer” to be with a cis man.

Demi told Rogan: “I also don’t know if I’m going to end up with a guy, so I can’t really see myself getting pregnant...I’m so fluid now, and part of the reason why I am so fluid is because I was like super closeted off.”

Rogan asked to clarify if Demi meant she is sexually fluid. “You like girls, you like boys?” he asked.

“Yeah, anything, really,” Demi answered.

Rogan further asked if the pansexual feels right for her. Demi replied, “Yeah, pansexual.”

“I heard someone call the LGBTQIA+ community the alphabet mafia and I was like, that’s it, that’s what I’m going with,” Demi added.

Pansexuality is the attraction to people regardless of their sex or gender identity.

Demi had previously talked about her sexuality, although this is the first time she went on to identify herself using a definitive label. In a 2017 online documentary, she admitted dating both guys and girls. “I am open to human connection. Whether that's through a male or a female, it doesn't matter to me,” she said.

And in the March issue of Glamour, she described herself as “really queer,” adding: “I know who I am and what I am, but I’m just waiting until a specific timeline to come out to the world as what I am. I’m following my healers’ timeline, and I’m using this time to really study and educate myself on my journey and what I’m preparing to do.”
