Paolo Contis says new ‘Eat Bulaga!’ hosts could never replace Tito, Vic, and Joey on the show

Paolo Contis acknowledged that the new Eat Bulaga! hosts could never replace Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, and Joey De Leon on the show, but he’s still hoping that the public would give them a chance to make it work.

In an interview that aired on GMA's 24 Oras on Monday, June 5, the actor said: “We’re very honored na kami ‘yung napili to continue the show.”

“Syempre, lilinawin lang naman natin na walang planong palitan, wala kaming chance palitan si Tito, Vic, and Joey. Wala kaming chance dun,” he stressed.

“We were just called to work, to continue the show because gusto ng TAPE office na makapagbigay ng papremyo, saya every day,” added Paolo.

The new EB host expressed his hope that the viewers would give them a chance to make the noontime show work with its new segments and faces. “Bilang kami ‘yung kinuha ng TAPE, responsibilidad namin na gawin ang 100% namin.”

“I hope you give us a chance kasi at the end of the day, pinatawag kami para tumulong sa tao, para makapagpasaya ng tao. How can you say no to that?” he continued.

Tito, Vic, and Joey announced they have parted ways with TAPE Inc. last May 31 after rumors about an Eat Bulaga! rebranding—and the trio getting fired—broke out amid financial losses.

After the announcement, Eat Bulaga! staff members, including hosts, writers, sales, production, and cameramen, tendered their resignation.

The noontime show went on with its live airing and introduced a new set of hosts, including Paolo as well as Buboy Villar, Betong Sumaya, Alexa Miro, Cassy Legaspi, and Mavy Legaspi on Monday, June 5.

Tito, meanwhile, revealed in an interview earlier in the day that he—as well as Vic and Joey—are set to announce their "new home" on June 7, saying that they “will continue with Eat Bulaga!” as TAPE Inc. does not own the program’s name as well as its segments.
