You just can't keep a good guy down.

More than 30 years after his debut in the very first Child’s Play film, the iconic killer doll Chucky is back in a brand new television series for US cable channel SYFY.

A new teaser for the upcoming horror series posted by SYFY on Tuesday (April 6) shows off the advanced animatronics underneath the seemingly friendly exterior of the Good Guy that will have Chucky walking and talking as they shoot.

The new Chucky television series is expected to premiere this 2021 on the science fiction horror and fantasy-centered cable channel.

Rather than being a reboot of the property, the series will continue the storyline of the seven feature films in the series, excluding the 2019 reboot, reviving the horror and history of the OG voodoo-loving killer doll.

Franchise star Brad Dourif will once again be back as the voice of Chucky, with Jennifer Tilly back as Tiffany, and Dourif's real-life daughter Fiona reprising her part of Nica, last seen in the sequel movies Curse of Chucky (2013) and Cult of Chucky (2017).

Cast members that will appear in the series include Devon Sawa (Final Destination), plus Zackary Arthur (Transparent), Teo Briones (Ratched), Bjorgvin Arnarson (PEN 15), and Alyvia Alyn Lind (The Young and the Restless) as the series' "four young leads."

As reported by SYFY Wire, the series has also tapped Child’s Play vets with Alex Vincent, who appeared in four installments of the film franchise (including the very first one back in 1988) reprising the role of AndyJoining him is another alum, Christine Elise McCarthy, who portrayed Andy's foster sister, Kyle, in two previous movies, starting with Child's Play 2 in 1990.

Here’s the official description for the Child's Play TV series:

"After a vintage Chucky doll turns up at a suburban yard sale, an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos as a series of horrifying murders begin to expose the town’s hypocrisies and secrets. Meanwhile, the arrival of enemies and allies from Chucky’s past threatens to expose the truth behind the killings, as well as the demon doll’s untold origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster."

Franchise creator Don Mancini, who wrote all seven movies in the original series, will be back as showrunner for the show which aims to return to the roots of the long-running classic horror film franchise.

“With this TV show, our mission has been to preserve the straightforward scariness of the original film or the first couple of films,” Mancini told SYFY Wire.

“But at the same time, continue on with this ever-expanding tapestry of consistent story that we’ve spun over the course of seven movies and 30-some years. I think fans are really gonna love to see the new characters that we introduce into this realm and just to see how they came off of our classic characters,” he added.

Chucky will premiere this fall on SYFY and the USA Network. The first episode titled "Death by Misadventure" is currently in production.
