You can play multiplayer Pac-Man right on Facebook

A multiplayer version of the classic Pac-Man arcade game is now available to play on Facebook.

Called Pac-Man Community, the free instant game available exclusively on Facebook Gaming, is developed by Genvid in partnership with Japanese video game publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment.

First released in 1980, Pac-Man is one of the longest-running, best-selling, and highest-grossing video game franchises in history, which has seen regular releases for over 40 years.

In a statement released Tuesday (Dec. 7), Facebook said its users can play co-op with up to three other people to complete mazes, while still competing against each other for the highest score.

While players work together to eat all the dots and survive the pesky ghosts, they’ll also be competing for the highest score.

Players can play with friends or strangers online, watch other creators play, or build their own challenges and mazes, with creations by other players to be featured inside the game daily.

Facebook Gaming streamers can also invite viewers to join their game with Facebook’s Play with Streamer feature.

Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and CEO of Facebook, which was recently rebranded to Meta, shared a video glimpse of Pac-Man Community on his page earlier this week.

"Gaming is a big part of the metaverse, and I'm looking forward to seeing games like this get more interactive and immersive," said Zuckerberg.

Upon checking out the Pac-Man Community Facebook Gaming page for ourselves, we found that the Beta version of the game is already available to play online in the Philippines as of this writing.

In the Quick Match Mode, you get paired with up to three random players to complete mazes. You all move on to the next maze as long as one player can complete it for the group without being caught by the ghosts. You can also host a game and add your friends and contacts directly. Take note that switching between browsers or tabs will cause the game to disconnect.

For those who don’t like playing co-op with other people, the original classic arcade game is also available to play in single player mode.
