Bettina Carlos says daughter Gummy blamed herself for mother’s single status

Bettina Carlos and Mikki Eduardo tied the knot on Dec. 2 in a garden ceremony at the Tagaytay Highlands in Tagaytay, Cavite.

And based on the photos and anecdotes the TV host and actress has been sharing on her social media accounts over the past few days, it seems like the ceremony was a romantic one.

It’s no ordinary wedding, either. After all, Bettina and Mikki got married amid the COVID-19 pandemic. In an Instagram post that shows her first kiss with Mikki as husband and wife, Bettina quipped. “Bettinna Carlos Eduardo po, nagpapakilalang bagong COVID bride.”

In the same post, she reveals that she and Mikko got married twice, although she didn’t give any details.

“For some reason I knew in my heart I was going to get married this year....BUT I did not expect it to be TWICE and on the same day. Thankfully to the same man,” she wrote.

Perhaps even more touching is the fact that Mikki also "proposed" to Amanda "Gummy" Carlos, Bettina's daughter, a day before the wedding ceremony.

“The night before our wedding, (Mikki) proposed to (Gummy). He asked her if she will allow him to be her father and raise her up to the fear and knowledge of the Lord. To which she said YES!” Bettina said in an Instagram post.

She added, “This was an answered secret prayer for me. One I never told anyone but the Lord. One I asked from Him twice. I asked God to confirm that if Mikki really is His best for us that he would give Gummy a ring, too. After all he is not just marrying me but her as well. God heard and heeded my prayer.”

On his Instagram page, Mikki recounted his experience of “proposing” to Gummy. “I was more nervous proposing to Gummy than when I was with Bettina,” he wrote.

And it looks like Mikki even got them matching wedding rings!

In an emotional post on Monday, December 7, Bettina revealed her daughter Gummy thought she was the reason why her mother wasn’t married.

Kung tanggap kami mula't simula),” Bettina said.

Bettina and Mikki even broke tradition on their wedding day by seeing each other before the actual ceremony.

According to wedding traditions, it is considered bad luck for the groom to see the bride in her wedding gown before the ceremony. Hence, the bride and groom are usually kept away from each other on their wedding day until the actual ceremony.

However, Bettina said it is Mikki’s idea to have a “first look” of each other right before the ceremony.

“They all say a wedding is so fast. So to slow it down a bit and savor the sight of each other, we chose to do this. Such beautiful meaningful moments!!! Both equally emotional. The morning one more of mysterious anticipation and the second more of peaceful joy,” she wrote.

“The first moment was so helpful in calming our nerves—at least mine. I was shaking inside for some reason, other than the wind being so strong,” she added.

“Besides, nothing calms me down more than talking to and being with my bestfriend and holding his hand.”
