Spider-Man: No Way Home is officially the most successful film released in the pandemic era.
The third installment of the successful Marvel series surpassed the $1 billion mark over the Christmas weekend just 12 days after its release, grossing over $467.3 million in North America and $587 million globally.
The recent accolade places the film as the third fastest film to reach the billion-dollar benchmark, tying with 2015’s Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The Marvel franchise now takes the top three spots of the record, with 2018's Avengers: Infinity War and 2019’s Avengers: Endgame taking the first and second place, respectively.
The last pandemic-released film that stood to test Spider-Man's record was the James Bond film No Time to Die, which grossed $774 million international.
No Way Home also dominated two other series installments that had the same Christmas showings: the Keanu Reeves-starred The Matrix Resurrections and spy prequel The King's Man.
Despite the calls and petitions for #DontDelayHomePH, Spider-Man: No Way Home is still set for a Philippine release on Jan. 8. Here's how you can book tickets now:
