Woman fired for twerking while on sick leave due to ‘severe back pain’

What a reason to get fired…

A woman lost a court case against her previous company that let go of her for sharing clips where she can be seen twerking during her sick leave for “severe back pain.”

According to a report by Spanish newspaper La Vanguardia, the court found that the TikTok videos of the woman, who worked as a cashier for a grocery store for more than a decade, were “incompatible with her ailments.”

She asked for an extension of her paid leave due to bad back in early 2021, but was later questioned over the twerking clips she shared on social media. In September of the same year, she received an official letter about her dismissal that detailed how one of the company's heads came across her public posts on TikTok and speculated that her back was perfectly fine.

The management continued to monitor her online activity during her leave that lasted for over eight months. During that period, she uploaded more videos of herself dancing and twerking to upbeat music.

“What was originally diagnosed as a short process in terms of healing has become a viral exposure of videos that demonstrate fraud in the benefits system and a lack of respect for the company and his colleagues,” it read.

The woman may still appeal the decision at the Supreme Court.
