Ready for another magical adventure in Hogwarts?
According to an April 4 report by Bloomberg, Warner Bros. is looking to close a deal for an online Harry Potter television series, which will possibly air on HBO Max.
Insiders said that each season of the series "will be based on one of JK Rowling’s seven books, suggesting years of fresh fare from the popular stories."
The project is currently in its initial stage, and while Rowling would not serve as its showrunner, she will be involved in the creative parts of the production process.
Warner Bros. adapted each book of the Harry Potter series into a blockbuster film, beginning with Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in 2001 and concluding with Harry and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 in 2011, which garnered more than $7.7 billion at the global box office.
Although its movie franchise concluded in 2011, the demand for everything Harry Potter remains high. Aside from a Harry Potter theme park that's set to open in Tokyo in June, the fourth part of its spinoff film series Fantastic Beasts is also expected to hit the theaters soon. A video game dubbed Hogwarts Legacy has also been released in February.
