American television network ABC has granted Filipino-American comedian Jo Koy a pilot order for his comedy series Josep.

The stand-up comedian shared the news on his Instagram sharing a screenshot of an article from Variety.

"I can’t wait for you all to see this," he wrote, also thanking ABC.

Koy will star in the series as a recently divorced Fil-Am nurse who attempts to navigate dating, fatherhood, and a very Filipino mother who loves to “help.”

The series will also see Koy producing alongside writers and executive producers Steve Joe of Young Sheldon, his manager Joe Meloche, Fresh Off the Boat’s Kourtney Kang, Randall Park, and Michael Golamco, and Jake Kasdan and Melvin Mar of The Detective Agency, to name a few.

This project, which was first revealed to be in the works last May 2021, comes after the success of his 2020 Netflix special Jo Koy: In His Elements, where the stand-up comedian paid homage to his roots by going on an adventure in the Philippines.

Fans of the Fil-Am comedian can watch out for his other upcoming features. Koy will also be seen in the Amblin Partners and Rideback’ feature film Easter Sunday, which is loosely based on the comedian’s experiences. The film will be released this year in April, while his fourth Netflix special to be filmed at the Forum, Los Angeles this March.

Koy’s other standup specials, Jo Koy Live from Seattle, Jo Koy: Comin’ in Hot, and Jo Koy: In His Elements are streaming on Netflix.
