Entertainment Weekly has shared an exclusive first look at images from the upcoming 2022 movie in the iconic slasher franchise Scream.

The fifth installment of Scream brings back original stars Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, and David Arquette, along with potentially new victims (or new incarnations) for masked villain Ghostface.

EW’s exclusive photos show Scream alums Campbell as Sidney Prescott, Cox as Gale Weathers-Riley, and Arquette as Dewey Riley, along with Scream 4 star Marley Shelton as Judy Hicks.

The photos also provide proof of Ghostface's return, with a mysterious figure in the familiar Halloween mask and black cloak.

Other photos reveal sneak peeks of the newcomers to the franchise, including Jenna Ortega (The Babysitter: Killer Queen), Jack Quaid (The Boys), Dylan Minette (Goosebumps), Melissa Barrera (In the Heights), Mason Gooding (Love, Victor), Kyle Gallner (Outsiders), Sonia Ammar, and Jasmin Savoy Brown (The Leftovers).

Earlier this week, a new poster was released for the film. Prominently featuring Ghostface with a knife, the poster's tagline teased: "It's Always Someone You Know."

Though the film has been billed as a relaunch of the franchise and doesn't make use of the number 5 in the title, it serves as a direct sequel to 2011's Scream 4. It is the first in the slasher series not to be directed by Wes Craven, who died in 2015.

Scream franchise writer and producer Kevin Williamson previously shared when the film wrapped production in November 2020 that the film goes back to its simple, horror roots.

"Nearly 25 years ago, when I wrote Scream and Wes Craven brought it to life, I could not have imagined the lasting impact it would have on you, the fans," said Williamson.

"I’m excited for you to return to Woodsboro and get really scared again. I believe Wes would’ve been so proud of the film that Matt and Tyler are making. I’m thrilled to be reunited with Neve, Courteney, David and Marley, and to be working alongside a new filmmaking team and incredible cast of newcomers that have come together to continue Wes’s legacy with the upcoming relaunch of the franchise that I hold so dear to my heart. See you in theatres January 2022," he added.

On Tuesday (Oct. 12), Williamson shared a brief teaser ahead of tomorrow's official trailer debut.
