A brand new trailer for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness just showed fans glimpses of live-action zombie versions of Doctor Strange and Scarlet Witch, along with new footage from the upcoming MCU sequel.

The latest trailer which dropped on Wednesday (April 6) titled Dream, focuses on the recurring nightmares of Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, played by Elizabeth Olsen and Doctor Stephen Strange portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch.

The one-minute long clip also showed a first look at a zombie version of Wanda and even more variants of Doctor Strange, including a version of the Sorcerer Supreme sporting a third eye.

The Sam Raimi-directed sequel picks up where WandaVision left off, on a painful cliffhanger that saw grieving Wanda give up the family she magically recreated.

In the trailer, we see Wanda's sons Billy and Tommy (also known as Wiccan and Speed), and a glimpse of Wanda in terrifying zombie form with glowing red eyes. A half-dead Doctor Strange also makes an appearance.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness also stars Benedict Wong, Chiwetel Ejiofor, and Rachel McAdams, who will be back as Wong, Karl Mordo, and Christine Palmer, respectively. Xochitl Gomez has also joined the cast as America Chavez.

It’s not the first time that the Marvel characters have gotten zombified. The Avengers first appeared in zombie form in the 2006 comic Marvel Zombies limited series, and Wanda and Strange also appear in zombie form in Marvel's animated series What If...?.

The animated anthology series created for the streaming service Disney Plus is the MCU’s first official animated series. The series explores alternate timelines in the multiverse that show what would happen if major moments from the MCU films occur differently.

What If... Zombies!?, the fifth episode in the first season, featured an apocalyptic outbreak of the Quantum virus where Strange, Wanda, Iron Man, Ant-Man, and the rest of the Avengers are infected, turning them into members of the undead. While the Avengers are infected by the zombie plague, the surviving heroes search for a cure.

Along with the new trailer, Marvel also released five different posters for IMAX, Dolby, Real D 3D, Screen X, and theaters.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is set to be released next month in Philippine theaters on May 4, 2022.
