The game is truly afoot! Millie Bobby Brown's Enola Holmes is set to reunite with Viscount Tewkesbury in the upcoming Netflix film sequel.
As part of its global fan event TUDUM over the weekend, the streamer revealed that Louis Partridge's character, the Marquess of Basilwether, who plays Enola's love interest and friend in the 2020 film will return in Enola Holmes 2.
The streaming giant shared the news with a brief clip of Partridge lighting a match in the dark and declaring: "'Tis I."
Enola Holmes 2 was first announced back in May this year, with Millie Bobby Brown and Henry Cavill set to return as Enola and Sherlock Holmes, respectively. The original movie's director, Harry Bradbeer, and writer, Jack Thorne, will also be back. Other cast members including Helena Bonham Carter and Sam Claflin have not yet been announced.
Partridge joined Brown towards the end of the 3-hour livestream event, where the duo shared that both have read the new script and are excited to be reunited in person for the first time since filming the first installment.
The actor said he could sum up the movie in one word: "Adventure," and that the themes of the movie are generally "family and teamwork."
He also said that he was excited to work with Cavill in the next film, and joked that he could “teach him a thing or two” if he had a chance to do some action scenes.
Millie then turned the floor over to Cavill, who thanked his onscreen sister and said filming in Enola Holmes 2 was set to begin "in a few days."
The event portion featured a photo of himself and Brown as Sherlock and Enola Holmes sitting beneath a tree and talking, before Cavill moved on to updates on The Witcher.
Enola Holmes is based on Nancy Springer's Edgar Award-nominated six-part book series, Enola Holmes Mysteries.
Like the books, the film puts a dynamic female twist on Sherlock and his family. Enola Holmes follows the world's greatest detective's rule-breaking teen sister Enola, a gifted super-sleuth who often outsmarts him and their other siblings.
Director Bradbeer previously talked about the chances for a sequel before Enola Holmes made its debut on Netflix.
"There’s more of the story to be told. The story isn’t over yet. She isn’t grown up, there’s no conclusion," he said. "I think she’ll forever be someone who is always evolving, but there’s definitely more to be shown on screen. Harry and I loved working together, so this has to happen."
Millie Bobby Brown fans have more than just Enola Holmes 2 to look forward to, with Stranger Things season 4 also on the horizon.
