A former creative director of Naughty Dog's Uncharted series has partnered with Skydance Media to develop a new Marvel game.

In a joint statement released over the weekend, Marvel and Skydance Media confirmed that the new project will be a narrative-driven, blockbuster action-adventure game that will feature an original story and take on the Marvel Universe.

Amy Henning, the award-winning writer and director behind the first three Uncharted games, is helming the game under Skydance Media's new interactive division.

“Amy has been setting the bar for narrative adventure games for decades and we are happy to be collaborating with the talented and experienced New Media team at Skydance,” said Jay Ong, executive vice president and head of Marvel Games. “Their ambition and vision for making innovative entertainment using beloved Marvel IP was obvious from our first meeting. We’re excited to share more with Marvel fans when the time is right.”

According to Skydance Media, those who are working on the still untitled project include a group of developers with decades of AAA experience in action and adventure gaming, as well as a diverse team of creative consultants from the worlds of film, television, and comics.

“I can’t imagine a better partner than Marvel for our first game,” said Hennig, president, Skydance New Media. “The Marvel Universe epitomizes all the action, mystery and thrills of the pulp adventure genre that I adore and lends itself perfectly to an interactive experience. It’s an honor to be able to tell an original story with all the humanity, complexity, and humor that makes Marvel characters so enduring and to enable our players to embody these heroes that they love.”

Following the game's announcement, Janina Gavankar, a voice actress whose previous works include Star Wars: Battlefront 2, Far Cry 4, and Horizon: Zero Dawn, confirmed that she is working on the new game from Skydance Media.

"I can finally tell you this. This is what I've been so lucky to be part of. @Skydance + @amy_hennig x @Marvel = #SkydanceNewMedia," Gavankar wrote.

Aside from the partnership, the studio hasn't revealed any other details about the upcoming project such as the release date, the superheroes that will be featured in the game or even the platforms it will launch on.

However, a rumor that's been making rounds on the Internet claims that Skydance Media's new project with Marvel could be Daredevil.

In a 4chan rumor first reported by Inverse over a year ago, the leak suggests that aside from the previously rumored Wolverine game, Marvel is also licensing out a game that will feature the Man Without Fear from Hell's Kitchen.

According to the 4chan user, the studio is working on a new "single player, narrative-focused game" that's slated to be released on PC, Xbox Series X, and PlayStation 5 in late 2021 or 2022. The leak suggests that the rumored Daredevil game will be set in an "open world modern-day Chicago" and will offer "a very dark noir-style detective game with combat similar to Arkham and Mad Max

While official details about Skydance's upcoming project remain under wraps, there are several Marvel games that fans can play right now such as Crystal Dynamics' Avengers, Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and the recently released Guardians of the Galaxy.

Other Marvel games that are currently in development include Firaxi's tactical RPG Midnight Suns, Insominac's Spider-Man 2 and the highly-anticipated Wolverine game.
