Italian artist sells invisible statue ‘full of energy’ for $18,000 or P860k

No statue, just vibes and “energy.”

Italian artist Salvatore Garau has sold an invisible statue for a whopping price tag of $18,000—or over P860,000. By invisible, yes, we mean one that does NOT actually exist.

The invisible statue that apparently takes up 5 feet by 5 feet is titled I Am, or Io Sono in Italian. It was created to be a “vacuum” for energy and exists solely in Garau's mind.

“The vacuum is nothing more than a space full of energy, and even if we empty it and there is nothing left, according to the Heisenberg uncertainty principle, that ‘nothing’ has a weight, it has energy that is condensed and transformed into particles, that is, into us,” Garau explained to Newsweek.

Io Sono isn’t the only invisible art that Garau has worked on in the past, as he's also presented other empty statues, Buddha in Contemplation piece and one named Aphrodite Cries.

Io Sono serves as the first invisible art he's actually sold to the public.

Like any work of art, the exhibition piece is instructed to be displayed in a private space free from obstructions where factors like lighting and climate cannot reach it.

Its buyer will also receive a stamped certificate of authentication, in case they need proof that the invisible piece is rightfully theirs.
