During the second Marvel’s Avengers War Table stream, Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix have revealed that Clint Barton’s Hawkeye will be joining the Earth’s Mightiest Heroes immediately after the launch of the much-awaited video game on September 4.

The bow and arrow-wielding Avenger will have his own story-arc that will be unique from the core campaign and can be played in solo or co-op formats. Aside from that, the team’s resident archer will also bring along a new villain whose identity will be revealed at a later date.

In the video reveal, Hawkeye can be seen taking out a group of robots using his trademark bow and arrow in an unknown location. We then hear the voice of Black Widow at the tail-end of the cinematic trailer, where we see a close-up look of Hawkeye donning his iconic purple suit.

In terms of character design, the studios said that they have “drawn on 80 years of Marvel history” in order to honor the comic book roots of the heroes. In the case of the Clint Barton’s version in the Avengers game, the studio said that they have based their inspiration from the award-winning comic book of Matt Fraction and Davi Aja, Hawkeye: My Life as a Weapon.

Before Marvel’s Avengers is released on September 4, players can try out the game's upcoming beta starting next week. PlayStation 4 owners who pre-ordered the game will be the first to try it out on August 7. A week after on August 14, the beta will be opened to the entire PlayStation 4 community while on August 21, everyone can play the beta.
