Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the latest movie in Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, just dropped an epic new trailer teasing its May 6 release.

The full trailer, which premiered during the Super Bowl in the US Sunday (Feb. 14, Philippine time) follows the first teaser which dropped last December, as part of the end-credits of of Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Doctor Strange cast members Benedict Cumberbatch, Benedict Wong, Rachel McAdams, and Chiwetel Ejiofor are all back in the sequel, along with newcomers Xochitl Gomez (playing America Chavez), Michael Stuhlbarg (Dr. Nicodemus West), and Elizabeth Olsen (reprising her role as Wanda Maximoff from other MCU films and series).

In the trailer, we see Strange dealing with the consequences of the decisions he's made, with the threat of a multiverse collapsing all around him, Several alternate reality versions of Strange make an appearance in the trailer, including an evil version of himself, and what looks like a Zombie Doctor Strange.

The trailer shows a glimpse of Strange in handcuffs, about to face judgment for his decisions, culminating in a mysterious figure saying “we should tell him the truth.”

While the vocal role hasn’t been confirmed, media outlets and fans have been speculating that the shadowy figure (at the 1:18 mark in the trailer) could be Sir Patrick Stewart as the older Professor Charles Xavier from the 20th Century Fox X-Men franchise.

Fans also get to see more of Gomez as America Chavez (the second Marvel character to use the moniker Miss America), conflict arising between Strange and Ejiofor’s Mordo, an evil version of Strange, and Wanda’s role in the upcoming sequel.

The trailer notably features Wanda, in Scarlet Witch costume, interacting with Wanda in her Westview home from the series WandaVision. The events of the Disney Plus series will reportedly tie in directly into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The sequel film is directed by original Spider-Man trilogy director Sam Raimi and written by Loki show-runner Michael Waldron.
