Taylor Swift calls out Blur front man Damon Albarn for saying she doesn't write her songs: 'Completely false'
Grammy Award-winning icon Taylor Swift slammed Blur frontman Damon Albarn for saying in an interview that she does not write her own songs.
Swift retweeted a Los Angeles Times tweet on Jan. 25 and wrote: “@DamonAlbarn I was such a big fan of yours until I saw this. I write ALL of my own songs. Your hot take is completely false and SO damaging. You don’t have to like my songs but it’s really fucked up to try and discredit my writing. WOW.”
“PS I wrote this tweet all by myself in case you were wondering,” Swift added on to her first post.

The LA Times tweet shared the article link where Albarn was asked his thoughts on whether modern musical artists are merely “relying on sound and attitude” when performing live.
Albarn then gave interviewer Mikael Wood some names, and Wood suggested that Swift was an excellent songwriter. The English rock singer, however, commented that “she doesn’t write her own songs,” to which the interviewer replied that she does and “even co-writes some of them.”
Albarn went on to remark that Swift’s songs are not his cup of tea: “Co-writing is very different to writing. I’m not hating on anybody, I’m just saying there’s a big difference between a songwriter and a songwriter who co-writes… A really interesting songwriter is Billie Eilish and her brother. I’m more attracted to that than to Taylor Swift.”
Swift’s supporters were also quick in defending the multi-award-winning singer-songwriter and expressing dismay over Albarn’s comment. Chilean politician Gabriel Boric tweeted: Here in Chile you have a huge group of supporters who knows that you write you own songs from the heart. Dont take seriously guys that need to insult or lie to get attention. Hugs from the south Taylor.”
Another fan wrote: “but in all seriousness, thank you for defending your talent. men walk around discrediting women and their hard work and talent and expect them to just walk away as if it's nothing serious.”
Swift’s friend and” co-record producer Jack Antonoff, who has worked with Swift on some of her albums such as 1989, reputation, and Lover, also defended Swift’s songwriting abilities.
“i’ve never met damon albarn and he’s never been to my studio but apparently he knows more than the rest of us about all those songs taylor writes and brings in. herb,” Antonoff wrote.

An hour after Swift tweeted her response, Albarn responded saying his words were “reduced to clickbait” and apologized to Swift.
The Blur lead vocalist replied: “I totally agree with you. i had a conversation about songwriting and sadly it was reduced to clickbait. I apologise unreservedly and unconditionally. The last thing I would want to do is discredit your songwriting. I hope you understand. – Damon”
Swift’s tweet caused the hashtags "Yes Taylor," "Get Him," "Damon," and "Speak Now TV" to trend on the microblogging site.
