Horror anime 'Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre' to stream in January
Junji Ito fans, it looks like your Halloween for 2023 will begin on January 19.
On Oct. 14, Netflix released the official poster for its upcoming series Junji Ito Maniac: Japanese Tales of the Macabre and announced that the show is premiering on January 19, 2023.
The poster contained a decapitated head of a high school girl in an alley. The girl's body has her hands crossed at her back while facing a monster with multiple parts of a woman's body. In contrast, the high school girl's lost head is in front of the poster facing the viewer, having full white eyes and smiling while looking at you.
The upcoming series is based on the works of Japanese horror Mangaka, Junji Ito.
Along with the poster, the streaming giant announced that it is adding four more stories to the new animated series: "Ice Cream Truck," "Tomb Town," "Library Vision," and "Headless Statue."
Netflix also teased fans by releasing the "key art" and voice actors for the following stories mentioned above.

Last June 9, it was revealed by Ito himself on Netflix's official YouTube channel that the series would adapt twenty of his selected stories from his works into animation. Some of the three pieces that were confirmed at that time are "Tomie," "Souchi," and "The Hanging Balloons." However, they had yet to decide which stories of "Tomie" and "Souichi" should be adapted.
Fans and viewers also got a glimpse of each piece's behind-the-scenes story, with "Tomie" being Ito's debut work.
Ito promised the audience that talented animators would genuinely recreate the eerie world that he conceptualized.
