Return to the awe-inspiring land of Pandora as 20th Century Studios released the official trailer for Avatar: The Way of Water, the much-awaited sequel to James Cameron's box-office hit in 2009.

Filled with majestic landscapes and special effects reminiscent of the original film, the two-minute trailer reunites viewers with Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), a former human working as a Marine veteran before he chose to leave his human body and become a Na'vi after falling in love with their princess Neytiri (Zoe Saldana).

The preview also introduces Sully and Neytiri's three children Neteyam (Jamie Flatters)Lo'ak (Chloe Coleman), and Tuktirey (Trinity Bliss), as well as their two adoptive ones Javier Socorro (Jack Champion) and Kiri (Sigourney Weaver).

Avatar: The Way of Water is set decades after the original film, where it explores the troubles that follows the Sully family, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure.

Cameron once again returns to the director's seat to helm the sequel, being no stranger to epic science fiction stories as he previously directed Aliens and The Terminator, as well as the high-grossing film Titanic.

Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Sigourney Weaver, and Stephen Lang return for the sequel, with Weaver playing as a different character this time. Joining them are Kate Winslet, Cliff Curtis, and CCH Pounder.

The original Avatar film is known for breaking several box office records due to its groundbreaking visual effects and claiming the title of highest-grossing film of all time for over a decade until it was overtaken by Marvel's Avengers: Endgame in 2019. However, it reclaimed the spot after a remastered version was released in theaters.

Avatar: The Way of Water will premiere in cinemas on Dec. 14.
