Netflix drops surprise trailer for ‘Love, Death + Robots Vol. 2’ coming next month

Netflix has announced the return of its NSFW animated anthology series Love, Death & Robots with a wild trailer teasing the show's second volume coming next month.

Fans won't have to wait long for the series to drop. Love, Death & Robots Volume 2 is set to arrive on the streamer on May 14, 2021. The trailer also reveals that a third volume is on the way, with a release date slated for 2022.

The award-winning animated series comes from a creative team that includes directors Tim Miller (Deadpool, Terminator: Dark Fate) and David Fincher (Fight Club, The Social Network). Similar in style to shows like Black Mirror and Twilight Zone, the collection of shorts animated by different crews from a range of countries span a variety of genres, such as science fiction, horror, and fantasy.

Love, Death & Robots is strictly for adults only, as episodes are peppered with themes of graphic violence, sex, and nudity, which isn’t surprising considering the project started out as a remake of the classic 1981 animated science fantasy anthology Heavy Metal, which in itself adapted stories with the same spirit from Heavy Metal magazine.

Volume one of Love, Death & Robots, which was released last March 15, 2019 consisted of 18 NSFW episodes dealing with all manner of terrifying creatures, wicked surprises, and dark comedy.

While the second season has only been renewed for eight episodes, it promises the same eclectic mix of "Naked giants, Christmas demons, and robots-gone-wild." Keen-eyed observers were quick to spot an appearance from Creed and Black Panther actor Michael B. Jordan, in computer-animated form in the trailer, which you can check out below.

Love, Death & Robots Volume 2 drops on May 14, 2021 while Volume 3 is coming in 2022.
