To celebrate the Lunar New Year and the Year of the Tiger, Microsoft’s Xbox has created 15 custom Xbox Series S consoles and Xbox Wireless Controllers with Chinese cartoon artist Bu2ma (Bu-er-ma).

The Lunar New Year Xbox Series S console and Xbox Wireless controller draws inspiration from the traditional Lunar New Year lucky colors, red and gold and features a cartoon of a Tiger.

The special Lunar Xbox consoles showcase the work of Beijing-based illustrator Bu2ma who gives a modern twist on an iconic character from his work.

The manga artist and illustrator is known worldwide for his art depicting cats and tigers.

His "Fat Tiger" illustration series was launched on instant communications app LINE as the LINE stickers.

According to Xbox, the custom console represents “well-being and fortune, offering good will toward all gamers.”

The Xbox Wireless Controllers come in a festive red design with a Tiger in a black Chinese ink finish, which is frequently used in traditional Chinese wash paintings.

Emphasizing the zodiac’s significance, a golden Tiger (虎) written in Chinese is displayed prominently on the back of the controller.

Unfortunately for cat lovers, these limited custom consoles are not for sale. Xbox fans in China will have the opportunity to win the limited sets by participating in the official sweepstakes on Wechat and bilibili, starting Tuesday, Jan. 25 at 12:00 p.m. China Standard Time.

According to the artist, Taiwanese players will also have the opportunity to get their hands on the limited sets via the Xbox Taiwan Facebook Official Fan Group.

The Year of the Tiger, the third of the 12-year cycle in the zodiac in the Chinese calendar, officially kicks off on Feb. 1, 2022.
