6 new K-dramas to watch in December 2021: ‘Snowdrop,’ ‘Bad and Crazy,’ ‘The Silent Sea,’ and more

We only have a few days to go before the year ends. What’s the best way to end 2021 on a high? By binge-watching K-dramas, of course. 

Mark your calendars as six upcoming K-dramas featuring BLACKPINK’s Jisoo, Squid Game actor Wi Hajun, Reply 1988 actress Lee Hyeri, Train To Busan actor Gong Yoo, and other stars will premiere this December 2021. Make sure to add these series to your must-watch list. 

1. Our Beloved Summer

Cast: Choi Wooshik, Kim Dami, Kim Sungcheol, Roh Jeongeui

Former high school sweethearts Choi Woong (Choi Wooshik) and Kook Yeonsoo (Kim Dami) are forced to reunite 10 years after their breakup when a documentary they filmed in their youth suddenly goes viral. Unfortunately, these exes promised never to meet again after a bad breakup. Awkward.

The romantic comedy recently premiered on Dec. 6.

2. Bad and Crazy

Cast: Lee Dongwook, Wi Hajun, Han Jieun, Cha Hakyeon

Imagine seeing the dashing Lee Dongwook and Wi Hajun together in one K-drama? Oh, the visual combination between these two actors will be crazy.

Bad and Crazy tells the story of corrupt detective Ryu Sooyeol (Lee Dongwook) as his life takes a turn when he meets crazed helmet man K (Wi Hajun). Both officers team up to fight against corruption in the police farm. The series is set to scheduled to premiere on Dec. 17.

3. Bulgasal: Immortal Souls

Cast: Lee Jinwook, Kwon Nara, Lee Joon, Gong Seungyeon

There’s something so fascinating about series that talk about reincarnated souls who are determined to change their former lives. The upcoming fantasy, historical K-drama Bulgasal: Immortal Souls is no different.

Set in the present, Min Sangwoon (Kwon Nara) repeats death and reincarnation as a human for the past 600 years. Weirdly enough, she remembers every mundane detail about her former lives. She meets Dan Hwal (Lee Jinwook), a mythical bulgasal who feeds off human blood and is cursed with immortality. The first episode will be released on Dec. 18.

4. Snowdrop

Cast: Jung Haein, BLACKPINK’s Jisoo, Yoo Inna, Jang Seungjo, Yoon Seah

BLACKPINK’s Jisoo is about to star in her first leading role alongside the handsome Jung Haein in the highly anticipated Snowdrop.

Set during the 1987 Democracy Movement, college student Eun Youngro (Jisoo) falls in love at first sight with Im Suho (Jung Haein) who has a secret past. A budding romance develops between the pair as political tensions rise in South Korea. The K-drama will premiere on Dec. 18 on JTBC and Disney+. 

5. When Flowers Bloom, I Think of the Moon

Cast: Yoo Seungho, Lee Hyeri, Byeon Wooseok, Kang Mina

It’s hard to imagine seeing Yoo Seungho, Lee Hyeri, Byeon Wooseok, and Kang Mina together in a comedy series, but here we are.

When Flowers Bloom, I Think Of The Moon tells the story of four friends who fall in love during the late Joseon period where alcohol is banned. Inspector Nam Young (Yoo Seungho) is determined to restore his family’s former glory when he falls in love with hardworking Kang Roseo (Lee Hyeri). The historical K-drama is set to premiere on Dec. 20.

6. The Silent Sea

Cast: Gong Yoo, Bae Doona, Lee Joon

The charismatic Gong Yoo in a sci-fi thriller series? Count us in!

Set in the future, space explorers travel to the moon to retrieve a mysterious sample from an abandoned research station. Team lead Han Yoonjae (Gong Yoo) believes this sample is the key to Earth’s survival as it’s slowly approaching desertification. The upcoming eight-episode series will premiere exclusively on Netflix this Dec. 24.
