‘Basta boosted’: This Philippine Quarantine Name Generator is as random as it gets
What’s in a term? With all the acronyms and new terms that have come with the recent lockdowns (NCR Plus, anyone?), even the best of us can sometimes feel like they’re all just a jumble of words.
To add a bit of humor to the chaos, web developer Raims Cabrera has come up with a site that automatically generates a randomized set of words to make your lockdown term as confusing as possible. Sounds familiar.
Aptly called “Philippine Quarantine Name Generator,” you only need to click on the “Generate Quarantine name” button and you’ve got the Philippines’ next weird quarantine name.
The results can range from “hybrid casual,” to “maximal strengthened,” and the questionable "very dirty."
Speaking with PhilSTAR L!fe, Raims shared that his creation was actually a collective idea from Tambayan404, a Discord community comprised of Filipinos tech enthusiasts.
“During that time, I wasn't really busy and it sounded like a fun thing to do, so I started writing it into life. Don't let your memes be dreams," he said.
He then shared the site in May 2020 while the country's community quarantines were in full effect.

For the first batch of words, Raims only used synonyms of familiar lockdown terms like modified, extreme, and enhanced, but as the country's COVID-19 cases continue to surge almost a year later, he eventually added new words to make the results even weirder.
"Along the way, I just added new words that I thought were funny and made no sense."
As the lockdown has now reached its first year, Raims took inspiration from an "Anong Community Quarantine Mo?" tweet from Filipino rapper BLKD.
With outrageous terms like “Basta, Next Level, Cold, Super Duper, Ultraelectromagnetic" magnifying the longest lockdown in the world, Raims added the crazy words to create the Name Generator we have now.

Meanwhile, the country is currently in a strict General Community Quarantine (GCQ) from March 22 until April 4, with Metro Manila and nearby provinces Rizal, Bulacan, Cavite and Laguna — or "NCR Plus"—placed under in bubble.
