BTS makes history, dominates Billboard Hot 100 with ‘Savage Love’ and ‘Dynamite’

There’s no stopping BTS from dominating the world! After the success of their record-breaking BTS Map of the Soul ON:E Online Concert last weekend, the group, with the help of the ever loyal ARMY, reached another milestone by dominating the Billboard Hot 100 chart with Savage Love, beating their own song Dynamite at the No. 1 spot.

Dynamite has dropped to No. 2 on the Billboard chart.

The Savage Love (Laxed-Siren Beat) is a collaboration with Jawsh 685 and Jason Derulo released on Oct. 2. With the vocals of BTS members Jungkook, SUGA and J-Hope, the song became more interesting and fun to bop to while imagining you’re at a summer getaway with friends or loved ones, vibing by the beach as the sun sets.

According to Billboard, Savage Love drew 16 million US streams (up 32 percent) and sold 76,000 downloads (up 814 percent) in the week ending Oct. 8, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. It also tallied 70.6 million radio airplay audience impressions (down 2 percent) in the week ending Oct. 11.

Two BTS remixes of Savage Love were released on Oct. 2 (with vocal and instrumental). Although the earlier version of New Zealander DJ Jawsh 685 and American singer Jason Derulo is already a viral song and a massive hit prior to the collaboration with BTS, you cannot deny the fact that the love and support of ARMY in this surprisingly cool collaboration made it more special.

On the other hand, Dynamite drops to the No. 2 spot on its seventh week at the Billboard Hot 100 Chart. All in all, the song had spent four weeks at the No. 2 spot and three weeks at No. 1. In short, it’s BTS vs. BTS on the top right now!

With their first all-English song Dynamite, BTS became the first all-Korean act to debut at No. 1 in the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

Interestingly, BTS is the only duo/group to secure the Top 2 spots since the Black Eyed Peas did it in 2009 with Boom, Boom, Pow and I Gotta Feeling. In the past, only OutKast, The Bee Gees, and The Beatles reached this milestone.

On a recent interview with Billboard, BTS expressed their fondness and appreciation to the fans who continuously support them.

"Surprised, happy and thankful. It was an unforgettable moment." Suga expressed in a recent interview with Billboard when asked about how they reacted when they heard that they topped the Billboard Hot 100 with Savage Love and Dynamite.

"We are so thankful to ARMY. You're the best!" eldest member Jin said.

BTS are set to perform this Wednesday, Oct. 14, at the Billboard Music Awards show which will be hosted by Kelly Clarkson at 8 p.m. EST at Los Angeles’ Dolby Theatre on NBC. RM, Jin, SUGA, J-Hope, Jimin, V and Jungkook are nominated under the Best Duo/Group and Top Social Artist categories. Goodluck, boys! Light up the show like Dynamite!
