Lucasfilm announced on Thursday that Gina Carano will not be returning to Disney Plus' hit TV series The Mandalorian.

In a statement given to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio said that Carano "is not currently employed by Lucasfilm and there are no plans for her to be in the future."

The report by THR said that the actress came under fire after sharing social media posts which appeared to have compared being a Republican to being Jewish during the Holocaust.

"Nevertheless, her social media posts denigrating people based on their cultural and religious identities are abhorrent and unacceptable," a spokesperson from Lucasfilm said.

The post has already been deleted following the backlash.

Last year, fans of The Mandalorian urged Disney for her termination after the former mixed-martial arts star posted several comments on social media about mask wearing and the alleged election fraud in the United States.

Carano played former rebel shock trooper turned mercenary Cara Dune in the Star Wars spin-off series.
