The spooky season is upon us again. Vans will be giving horror movie fans and sneakerheads some cool new kicks in October as part of the company's Vans x Horror collection.

Iconic horror titles, namely Stephen King’s It, The Shining, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and The Lost Boys are reimagined in varying styles as shoes.

Earlier this week, the popular skater shoe company revealed a first look at the horror collection in a video clip posted to Twitter, which you can check out below.

In a subtle homage to King’s It, the Authentic checkerboard sneaker features tiny red balloons, the signature party favor of Pennywise the clown. The shoes also feature the infamous phrase "You'll float too" on the bottom. Based on the 1986 novel by the horror master, It was adapted as a miniseries by ABC in 1990 and was rebooted for the big screen as a movie in 2017 followed by the sequel It: Chapter Two in 2019.

The Shining sneaker is a Sk8-Hi printed with black and yellow graphics from the poster of the original 1980 film directed by Stanely Kubrick, with the phrase “REDRUM REDRUM” scrawled repeatedly on both sides of the sneaker's midsole. Kubrick's movie starring Jack Nicholson, which was adapted from King's 1977 gothic horror novel, was followed by an ABC miniseries adaptation in 1997.

Freddy Krueger's striped red sweater from A Nightmare on Elm Street serves as the inspiration for another Sk8-Hi, which comes with authentic looking blood splatters across the upper and midsole. The supernatural horror-slasher franchise featuring former child killer Freddy, began with Wes Craven's 1984 film, and has spawned multiple sequels, a television series, novels, comic books, and various other media.

Lastly, a Friday the 13th slip-on sneaker is a more obvious nod to the classic slasher, with a rendering of Jason Voorhees's iconic hockey mask and the title of the popular horror franchise, accompanied by various white and red specs. To date, there have been twelve Friday the 13th movies made over the years, with 2009's reboot being the latest.

On Wednesday, September 29, Vans Philippines confirmed that the Vans x Horror collection would be available in select stores nationwide. The sneaker company shared more photos of the iconic footwear pieces inspired by classic horror films not seen in the teaser video, including a pair  inspired by vampire film The Lost Boys (1987).

Vans x Horror collection in collaboration with Warner Bros. is set to arrive in time for Halloween season this October 2021. The capsule collection also includes other apparel like socks, caps, shirts and sweaters isnpired by the same classic horror movies.
