'Scream 6' coming soon as production wraps up filming
The sixth installment in the Scream franchise is drawing closer to scaring audiences in cinemas as the film crew announced that they have wrapped up the filming.
The crew revealed the good news through their official Instagram account, where they also thanked producer, Ron Lynch, for choosing the set of Blackmore Productions as the shooting location.
"It's in the box! Shooting for the Scream 6 film has now ended. Well done to the Thunder team! We'd also like to thank producer Ron Lynch and Montréal for choosing Blackmore Productions as their city to shoot," the crew's translated caption read.
The post was accompanied by a picture of the whole team on the set.
Scream veteran Courtney Cox, who will reprise her role as the fierce reporter Gale Weathers, also previously announced that she has finished filming for the sequel through her Instagram account.
"Just finished filming Scream. I'm back from Montreal and I'm so happy to have my work behind me," Cox said. She revealed this in a funny parody of Scream, where she is seen watching her security cameras and catching Ghostface lurking outside her home.
Cox will, unfortunately, be the only alumni of the franchise to return, as Neve Cambell, who plays the courageous final girl Sidney Prescott, had decided to not come back for Scream 6.
This was because she felt that the salary being offered to her "did not equate to the value" she has brought to the franchise, according to a report by Deadline.
However, the stars of Scream 5, Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Mason Gooding, will be returning for the new installment.
While plot details remain under wraps, The Hollywood Reporter wrote that Scream 6 "continues with the four survivors of the Ghostface killings as they leave Woodsboro behind and start a fresh chapter."
The film is slated for a March 31, 2023 release.
