Synopsis: This American superhero drama limited television series from Damon Lindelof is set in an alternate history where superheroes are treated as criminals. This nine-episode series continues the legacy of the 1986 DC Comics graphic novel Watchmen, created by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons while attempting to break new ground of its own, focusing on events surrounding racist violence in Tulsa, Oklahoma, in 2019.
Lovecraft Country
Synopsis: Based on Matt Ruff's novel of the same name, Lovecraft Country follows Atticus Freeman (Jonathan Majors) as he meets up with his friend Letitia (Jurnee Smollett) and his uncle George (Courtney B. Vance) to embark on a road trip across 1950s Jim Crow America in search of his missing father (Michael Kenneth Williams). This begins a struggle to survive and overcome both the racist terrors of white America and the terrifying monsters that could be ripped from a Lovecraft paperback.
Westworld
Synopsis: This dystopian television series based on the 1973 film is set in a fictional, technologically advanced Wild-West-themed amusement park populated by android "hosts". The park caters to high-paying "guests" who may indulge their wildest fantasies within the park without fear of retaliation from the hosts, who are prevented by their programming from harming humans.
Silicon Valley
Synopsis: This HBO series is a parody of Silicon Valley culture, focusing on Richard Hendricks (Thomas Middleditch), a programmer who founds a startup company called Pied Piper, and chronicles his struggles along with five other programmers to make their mark while facing competition from larger entities. Premiered in 2014, this quirky underdog series ran for a total of six seasons before concluding on December 8, 2019.
