When it comes to spooky figures spanning comics, TV, and film, few characters resonate with Halloween better than the adorable misfits of The Addams Family. The distinct charm of the wealthy, albeit macabre household is so popular that last year’s The Addams Family animated feature film grossed $203 million worldwide on a $24 million budget.

Today, MGM has just confirmed that the sequel to The Addams Family is scheduled to premiere on October 2021.

This time around, there will be some changes in the cast. Javon ‘Wanna’ Walton would be taking over from Finn Wolfhard for the role of Pugsley Addams. Bill Hader will be joining the film as the voice of new character Cyrus. The rest of the original cast would be returning to reprise their roles.

The Addams Family 2 film stars Charlize Theron (Morticia), Oscar Isaac (Gomez), Chloë Grace Moretz (Wednesday), Javon ‘Wanna’ Walton (Pugsley), Nick Kroll (Fester), Bette Midler (Grandma), Bill Hader (Cyrus), and Snoop Dogg (It).

Returning directors Conrad Vernon and Greg Tiernan will be back to helm the second film. Gail Berman, Danielle Sterling, and Alison O’Brien will produce it.

MGM also released a one-minute promo teaser and two new posters but they don’t reveal much about what kind of plot or storyline is in store for the Addams family. I guess we’ll have to wait until next year to find out.

The Addams Family 2 is set to premiere on October 2021.
