The Philippines ranked sixth in the list of top 10 countries tweeting the most about gaming globally, according to Twitter.

New insights from Twitter Gaming's 2021 Year in Review show that the Philippines took the sixth spot in countries tweeting the most about gaming. The country trails behind Brazil and Thailand, with the top three spots dominated by Japan, the United States and South Korea.

The Philippines takes the 6th spot.

According to Twitter, in 2021, there were more than 2.4 billion Tweets about gaming, up 14 percent year over year, and a more than 10x increase from 2017.

The last quarter of the year was reportedly the biggest in terms of gaming conversations held over the microblogging and social networking service.

"The gaming community around the world turned to Twitter to talk about the biggest moments of the year as in-person esports events returned to center stage, publishers dropped new games like Halo Infinite, media outlets continued to expand coverage of the space and NFTs became a hot topic," said Twitter.

Genshin Impact, the free-to-play action role-playing game developed by Chinese developer miHoYo, which was first published in 2020, dominated the global gaming conversation around the world last year.

Also making the top 10 most talked about games in 2021 were Final Fantasy, the quarantine breakout hit Animal Crossing: New Horizons, sandbox video game Minecraft, and free-to-play Battle Royale game Fortnite.

Genshin Impact also topped the list of the most Tweeted games in the Philippines in 2021, followed by Valorant Esports, Roblox, League of Legends and Minecraft.
