Punk band Converge mistaken by disgruntled Pinoys as the local internet provider

Scores of angry Filipinos heaped abuse on what they believed was the social media page of their internet service provider, not knowing that they were barking up the wrong tree.

The social media page that was targeted belonged to Converge, an American hardcore punk band.

To clear the air, the band issued a statement, though it seemed they took the incident in good humor.

"Hey everyone... still just a hardcore band over here," the band said.

"Covid has not forced us to become an internet provider in the Philippines yet, but we hope everyone over there gets their internet access back. While you’re here though click the link to our webstore and grab yourself a cool T-shirt or something. ????."

A silver lining though in the hilarious mix-up was that the band now has new fans in the Philippines, as some stumbled on their page after their post went the rounds on social media. Some are even clamoring for them to eventually go to the Philippines and have a tour, an event that some are saying should be sponsored by, who else, but Converge ICT.
