After the broadcast of the last episode of Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 on Japanese TV on Sunday, it was announced that the anime series would be back for yet another “Final Season.”
The series was widely expected to conclude this year.
As reported by Crunchyroll, the anime will continue with Attack on Titan Final Season Part 3, titled Attack on Titan The Final Season Final Arc in Japan, and will be released sometime in 2023.
A teaser trailer and visual has been released for the continuing conclusion to the adaptation of Hajime Isayama's manga.
Attack on Titan’s original manga, which the anime is based on, ran for 139 chapters and came to a close in April 2021.
The Final Season has 28 episodes so far, in its first two parts, and covered up to the events around chapter 130 of the manga. Fans noted that there are still nine chapters of the original manga left to adapt.
Attack on Titan began as a manga series written and illustrated by Hajime Isayama, which was serialized in Bessatsu Shonen Magazine between September 2009 and April 2021.
The first three seasons of the anime television adaptation were produced by Wit Studio, and aired between April 2013 and July 2019. While the manga concluded its successful run, the anime is still ongoing.
The Attack on Titan franchise has seen much success since it launched, becoming one of the best-selling manga series of all time. AoT has branched out into other popular media as well, including video games and a live-action film.
The news on the next anime installment was announced on the anime’s Twitter page Sunday (April 3) after the broadcast of the final episode of Attack on Titan Final Season Part 2 on Japanese TV.
As the "Final Arc," the new upcoming season is expected to wrap up the series that began in 2013.
There you have it. More AoT to look forward to next year. Attack on Titan The Final Season Part 3 will be released sometime in 2023.
