PlayStation's 'Play At Home' returns with free games and bonuses

Sony PlayStation's "Play At Home" initiative is back and ready to give the gaming community more free games and bonuses for the next four months starting this March.

When the pandemic lockdowns hit early last year, Playstation fans were treated to a couple of free video games courtesy of the console maker. The Play At Home initiative was in support of people who were quarantined indoors, and also established a fund for smaller indie game studios who were experiencing financial difficulties.

In April 2020, PlayStation gave away free digital downloads of two critically-acclaimed games: Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection and Journey.

On March 1, 2021, Play At Home returns by making the PS4 version of Ratchet & Clank free for the entire month.

Bear in mind, this is the digital version of the game. You will need to log in to your PSN account and claim the game from its digital store page in order to download it to your library.

Jim Ryan, president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment, wrote in a PlayStation Blog post that there is reason to be optimistic for the near future, and the next four months of the Play At home initiative is once again an expression of thanks to the gaming community.

"These days, we could all use something to look forward to and another reason to stay safely socially distanced," said Ryan. "So we’ve designed a series of free games and entertainment offers for our PlayStation community to make the next few months a little more fun and enjoyable."

Ratchet & Clank will be available from March 1 to 31, 2021. Once redeemed, it will be yours to keep forever—or for how ever long you have your PSN account.

"What we outlined today is just the beginning of what’s in store for Play At Home," Ryan continued. "In the coming weeks, we’ll share more details on free games and entertainment offers dropping for our PlayStation community."
