Weekend Watchlist: ‘Minari’ drops on HBO Go and other new shows to watch on Netflix

By Kara Santos Published Oct 08, 2021 4:40 pm

Looking for something new and inspiring to watch this weekend?

The Oscar-winning 2020 drama film Minari starring Steven Yeun was just released on HBO Go last Saturday, Oct. 2.

Minari follows a Korean family that moves out to a farm in Arkansas in search of their own American Dream. The A24 film bagged six Oscar nominations: best picture, best director and best original screenplay for Lee Isaac Chung, best actor for Steven Yeun, best supporting actress and best original score, so it should be worth checking out.

Over on Netflix, the top trending selections this week (after Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha and Squid Game) is The Guilty, a remake of a 2018 Danish film inspired by a real 911 call starring Jake Gyllienhaal.

Another popular pick seems to be There’s Someone Inside Your House, a high school slasher flick based on a New York Times bestselling book by Stephanie Perkis, brought to the screen by the producers of Stranger Things and The Conjuring Universe.

Check out the trailers for some of the newest releases from Netflix and HBO Go this week.
