Blackpink is the revolution, teases new movie in August to mark their 5th anniversary

It’s been five years since Blackpink’s debut. Since then, the’ve been considered one of the top groups in K-pop.

Blackpink will be taking Blinks on a trip down memory lane through the documentary film BLACKPINK The Movie, which will be released in 100 countries in August. 

In a report from Soompi, YG Entertainment said the film will feature key moments in Blackpink’s five-year journey as K-pop artists. Fans can also anticipate an “Unreleased Special Interview” and five songs from their “The Show” and “In Your Area (2018)” concerts.

The documentary film is part of the girl group's fifth-anniversary "4+1 PROJECT" as a special gift to fans. As of this writing, additional details of the project are yet to be released.

Aside from the “4+1 PROJECT,” BLACKPINK will meet their Filipino fans at the "SHOW YOU LIKE THAT" exclusive show on June 18, Friday. The free online event will be streamed on Globe’s Kmmunity PH Facebook group.

Blackpink is composed of four members, namely, Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa, and Rosé. The girl group debuted in August 2016 with the mini-album “Square One.” They are known for their chart-topping tracks like Kill This Love, How You Like That, and Ddu-Du Ddu-Du

Since their debut, the members have also enjoyed individual success in South Korea and worldwide. 

Jennie is the first member to debut as a soloist in November 2018 with the title track Solo. She was chosen as one of Chanel’s house ambassadors in June of the same year. 

Rosé also debuted as a soloist with the single album “R” in March 2021. She was named as the official global ambassador for Saint Laurent in July 2020.

Lisa was chosen as the dance mentor for the second and third seasons of the Chinese survival show Youth With You. She was appointed as a global ambassador for Celine in September 2020. 

Jisoo was named as the global ambassador of Dior fashion and beauty in March 2021. She is set to star as one of the lead characters in the upcoming K-drama Snowdrop.
