‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ clip teases Zachary Levi’s new costume

DCEU fans are in for a treat! On Thursday, photos from the set of Shazam! Fury of the Gods were leaked with star Zachary Levi donning new superhero tights.

Teasing fans some more, director David F. Sandberg recently gave us a better look at the new costume, releasing an official clip of the new Shazam! suit via Twitter.

The teaser comes with a catch, though. Levi and the new outfit are shrouded in darkness, making it a bit difficult to fully see the suit. Shazam! Even quips about it in the teaser.

But based on the photos leaked by Just Jared, the costume appears to be less bulky and without a cape. However, the cape might be added digitally in post-production—it is, after all, an iconic part of the World’s Mightiest Mortal’s costume. The lightning bolt also looks to have shrunk in size and the gauntlets and belts have been redesigned.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods was scheduled to begin production in mid-2020 and had an April 2022 release. But due to the pandemic, the sequel’s release date was delayed to June 2023. The story will follow Billy Batson and his superfied siblings as they cross paths with the sinister daughters of the Greek god Atlas. 

Along with Zachary Levi, the sequel will star Helen Mirren, Lucy Liu, Rachel Zegler, Asher Angel, Jack Dylan Grazer, Adam Brody, Faithe Herman, Meagan Good, Grace Fulton, Michelle Borth, Ian Chen, Ross Butler, Jovan Armand, and D.J. Cotrona.
