Unaired Avatar: The Last Airbender pilot streaming on Twitch

On a recent Twitch stream, Nickelodeon gave Avatar: The Last Airbender fans a treat by screening the unaired pilot officially and for free for the first time.

The original pilot episode for Avatar was actually a series pitch to Nickelodeon and was never aired, however, it was previously made available if you bought certain past DVD sets or on iTunes.

Whatever way you feel about it, this roughly 15-minute animation was enough to convince network executives to give the green light to the series.

It's not known for how long Nickelodeon will have the stream up, so make sure to catch it here while you can.

This recent development comes right after news that the original Avatar: The Last Airbender creators, Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, have walked away from the upcoming Netflix live-action series adaptation.

No reason was given for their exit, but it has been implied by DiMartino that creative differences may have played a part.
