Henry Cavill previews first look as Geralt of Rivia in The Witcher Season 2

Henry Cavill has just revealed the first official look of The Witcher Season 2 by sharing two images of lead character Geralt of Rivia.

Based on these photos, Geralt’s look hasn’t changed much except for the new wicked black leather armor. Cavill appears up and ready for battle, clad in all-black studded leather outfit.

Up top, he dons large shoulder plates and extended wrist cuffs for protection, held together with some belt and buckle detailing — perfect for the upcoming bloodshed and mayhem that may lie ahead in the much-awaited second season of The Witcher.

The photos uploaded by Cavill on IG currently have 2.2 million likes barely 12 hours since posting. Netflix also shared the images on its official Twitter account, garnering 14,700 likes and 3,600 re-tweets.

Cavill captioned the IG post by quoting The Witcher novels writer Andrzej Sapkowski:

"'It may turn out,’ said the white-haired man a moment later, ‘that their comrades or cronies may ask what befell these evil men. Tell them the Wolf bit them. The White Wolf. And add that they should keep glancing over their shoulders. One day they’ll look back and see the Wolf.’"

Filming for The Witcher Season 2 began early 2020 but was put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Production eventually resumed on August 17, following health and safety protocols.

The Witcher Season 2 stars Cavill (Geralt of Rivia), Anya Chalotra (Yennefer), Freya Allan (Ciri), Joey Batey (Jaskier), MyAnna Buring (Tissaia), Tom Canton (Filavandrel), Lilly Cooper (Murta), Jeremy Crawford (Yarpin Zigrin), Eamon Farren (Cahir), Mahesh Jadu (Vilgefortz), Terence Maynard (Artorius), Lars Mikkelson (Stregobor), Mimi Ndiweni (Fringilla Vigo), Royce Pierreson (Istredd), Wilson Radjou-Pujalte (Dara), Anna Shaffer (Triss Merigold), and Therica Wilson Read (Sabrina).

Though no official announcement has been made, estimated release date is pegged at around September or October 2021.
