First footage from Enola Holmes, starring and produced by Stranger Things’ star Millie Bobby Brown, just dropped on Netflix.
[UPDATE: The film has released its official poster. Details below.]
Brown plays Enola, the younger sister of detective Sherlock Holmes, portrayed by Henry Cavill (popularly known for playing DC’s Superman and Geralt of Rivia of The Witcher fame) and Mycroft Holmes, played by Sam Claflin (The Hunger Games’ Finnick Odair).
The film, adapted from Nancy Springer’s young adult fiction series of detective novels, follows Enola’s 16th birthday adventure, investigating the disappearance of her mother (played by English actress Helena Bonham Carter).
Set in England in 1884, the story follows Enola’s defiance against societal expectations and her brothers who want to send her off to a “proper” finishing school for young ladies to become a super-sleuth in her own right. The film was meant to be released in theatres, but was sold to Netflix in April this year.
The snippets don’t really tell much about the story, except to introduce the titular character through the supporting cast and scenes taken straight out of established canon of Sherlock Holmes lore.
