Captain Marvel herself is joining the Fast and Furious family.

Brie Larson, who plays Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel in the MCU films has been added to the cast of the upcoming Fast and Furious 10 in an undisclosed role.

Star Vin Diesel, who has played Dominic "Dom" Toretto since the first film in the franchise released in 2001, made the announcement about Larson’s role in the next Fast installment via a post on his Instagram account on Sunday (April 10).

In his post, Diesel welcomed Larson to the family and said fans “have no idea how timeless and amazing she will be in our mythology.”

“Yeah yeah yeah… you see this angel over my shoulder cracking me up, you say to your self “that’s captain Marvel”. Clearly there is love and laughter in this image. What you don’t see however, is the character you will be introduced to in Fast10. You have no idea how timeless and amazing she will be in our mythology. Beyond her beauty, her intellect… her Oscar, haha is this profound soul who will add something you might not have expected but yearned for. Welcome to the FAMILY Brie," wrote Diesel.

Larson won the Academy Award for Best Actress in 2016 for her portrayal of Joy Newsome in the mother-son captive drama Room.

Prior to playing Captain Marvel in the 2019 film and Avengers Endgame, Larson’s other film credits include Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, The Glass Castle, and Kong: Skull Island.

Interestingly, Larson is the the third comic book film superhero to be added to the street-racing adventure frachise.

Aquaman star Jason Momoa is reportedly playing the villain in the latest installment, while The Suicide Squad‘s Daniela Melchior (Ratcatcher 2) has also joined the cast in an undisclosed role.

Diesel himself is no stranger to the MCU, as he plays Groot in numerous films, appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder.

Diesel, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Sung Kang, and Nathalie Emmanuel will all be back for the penultimate chapter of the franchise.

Other returning cast members have yet to be officially confirmed. Justin Lin, who directed parts three through six as well as F9, is returning to direct Fast and Furious 10 and its sequel.

Fast and Furious 10 is slated to hit movie theaters on May 19, 2023.

The saga will finally end with the 11th movie in the franchise, after a run of more than two decades from the first The Fast and the Furious film in 2001.
