Dr. Evil is back ‘for good’ in teaser for General Motors Super Bowl ad

Dr. Evil, the iconic villain in the Austin Powers franchise will be featured in an upcoming Super Bowl commercial this coming Feb. 16.

In a teaser posted on General Motor’s Twitter account Tuesday (Feb. 8), comedian Mike Myers returns in character as the Evil Medical School Graduate Dr. Evil in a new ad, two decades after the last film. The full commercial is set to drop on Sunday, Feb. 13.

"His name is legendary. His plans are diabolical. He rules not with an iron fist but an iron pinkie," the commercial teaser reads.

"Evil is back for good," GM captioned the post with the hasthag "Everybodyin."

Mike Myers played both the title character of Austin Powers and Dr. Evil in the spy action comedy films: Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery (1997), Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me (1999) and Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002). Myers also produced and wrote the three films and starred as several other characters in the parodies of the James Bond franchise.

A proposed fourth film, Austin Powers 4, has reportedly been in development since 2005, but has since been stalled.

Myers did resurrect the iconic villain back in 2014 for a Saturday Night Live cold open in which he addressed North Korea and Sony Pictures over the James Franco and Seth Rogen comedy The Interview, expressing that they both gave “evil organizations a bad name.”

It looks like Dr. Evil won’t be alone in the upcoming Super Bowl ad. Teasers have popped up for other members of the franchise cast featuring Rob Lowe’s Number Two, as well as Mindy Sterling’s Frau Farbissina.

“He’s the not-so-head honcho. The second banana. The medium cheese. Numero dos,” the ad teases. “But he’s always number one at being Number Two.”

“She has looks that kill. A whip that smarts. And her inside voice belongs outside," shows a third teaser from General Motors.

It looks like it's shaping up for a frickin' good reunion for the evil crew.

As reported by The Sporting News, a 30-second Super Bowl ad costs $6,500,000 this year, so General Motors and all other companies advertising are bringing out some star power.

Fans will have to wait to catch the full ad during Super Bowl LVI in the US on Sunday, Feb. 13.

Last year, GM's commercial promoted electric vehicles with the help of Will Ferrell.

Other highly anticipated commercials that have been teased so far this year include Scarlett Johansson and Colin Jost for Amazon, Zendaya for Squarespace, and Lindsey Lohan for Planet Fitness.
