Koo Junyup announces marriage to ‘Meteor Garden’ star Barbie Hsu—3 months after her divorce
Meteor Garden actress Barbie Hsu is taking a second chance at love as she decided to marry her former flame, Korean singer and DJ Koo Junyup.
Barbie and Junyup’s marriage was confirmed by the singer in an Instagram post on Tuesday, Mar. 8, which was reposted by the Taiwanese actress. The announcement was made three months after her divorce to Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei.
“We got married!!!!” Junyup wrote in the caption. He also shared how he got back together with Barbie.
Junyup revealed that he immediately searched for Barbie’s number after hearing about her divorce. He also shared they met again by chance since they were previously in a relationship “20 years ago.”
“I’m getting married. I intend to pull together the knot that I was not able to complete with my girlfriend from 20 years ago. I heard about her divorce and searched for the number from 20 years ago to contact her on a whim,” said Junyup, as per a translation by allkpop.
The singer-DJ added that he “suggested that we get married,” to which the actress “said yes.”
“We are at an age where we cannot waste away our time idly, and so I suggested that we get married and she said yes, so we will be living together after registering our marriage. Please congratulate me on my late marriage,” Junyup added.
Barbie gained widespread recognition after starring as Dong Shan Cai in the Taiwanese series Meteor Garden.
Meanwhile, Junyup debuted as a member of the dance music duo Clon in 1996. He has since been making a name as a soloist and DJ.
