Harry Styles gave a shoutout to his One Direction bandmates during his acceptance speech at the 2023 BRIT Awards today, Feb. 12 (Manila time).

After being called onto the stage to accept his award for Artist of the Year, the singer decided to pay tribute to his colleagues Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, Liam Payne, and Zayn Malik.

"I want to thank my mum for signing me up for The X Factor without telling me, so I literally wouldn't be here without you," Styles said in his speech. This was in reference to the British television music competition that created One Direction by grouping together the five boys who entered the contest as individuals.

"I want to thank Niall, Louis, Liam, and Zayn. I wouldn't be here without you either. Thank you so much," Styles said.

Right after his statement honoring his bandmates, the BRIT Awards crowd erupted in a loud cheer.

"I'm really, really grateful for this. And I'm very aware of my privilege up here tonight," Styles concluded his speech.

He won all four BRIT Awards that he was nominated for this year. Aside from Artist of the Year, he also won Song of the Year, Album of the Year, and Best Pop/R&B Act.

One Direction, active from 2010 until an indefinite hiatus announced in 2016, has won almost 200 awards, including seven BRIT Awards. In fact, they won a BRIT for six consecutive yearly editions of the awards ceremony.

It is also one of the best-selling boy bands of all time, having sold 70 million records worldwide.
