BTS wins Worldwide Icon of the Year award at 2023 MAMA Awards Day 1. Here are the other winners
Here's some news that will have Filo ARMYs cheering for their idols: BTS emerged as the winner of the Worldwide Icon of the Year award at the MAMA Awards 2023.
The K-pop boy band, consisting of RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, V, and Jungkook, bagged the distinction during the first day of the biggest K-pop awards of the year, which took place at the Tokyo Dome in Japan on Nov. 28.
This makes it their sixth time in a row winning the coveted award. Aside from this, BTS also won the Worldwide Fans’ Choice along with other prominent figures in the K-pop industry such as SEVENTEEN, TWICE, and Zerobaseone.
"We, once again, won the Samsung Galaxy Worldwide Icon of the Year. It's our sixth time. [To] our ARMY, who always sends us unwavering love, thank you very, very much. I'm sad that we couldn't meet in person today, but we know we'll soon meet as bigger selves, right?" member Jungkook said during the acceptance speech.
"Until then, stay healthy and I hope you enjoy every minute of your days. My precious and loving ARMY, you know I love you so much, right? We can't wait to see you again in the future," he added.
